The Jets’Gut-Wrenching 41-10 loss to Colts

Posted by

All week long — heck, make it the better part of three months — you’ve screamed to the high heavens about how things really couldn’t get any worse. No way. Not possible. This is as low as a team now six years removed from the playoffs can be.

The Jets response?

Monday night, on prime-time television, the Jets put together the most pathetic, shocking  display of football in recent memory. At the end of the 60-minute embarrassment, the Colts had a 41-10 victory.

The loss dropped the Jets record to 3-9. It mathematically eliminated them from the playoffs.

Here’s everything you missed:

That didn’t take long. After a half of miserable play, the Jets yanked Ryan Fitzpatrick for second-year pro Bryce Petty.

It didn’t make a difference. In the first half, the Jets were outscored 24-3. In the second half, they were outscored 17-7. They have officially hit rock bottom.

Petty good or Petty bad? Here’s a look at how Bryce Petty played when he took over for Fitzpatrick.

Petty rest of the way, nevertheless. It may be coming a few weeks later than expected, but the Jets are officially going to Bryce Petty. Bowles said he’ll start the rest of the season.

Wrong move? Here’s Steve Politi’s take on not Bowles’ decision to go to Petty, but the fact he made it … before Monday’s game against the Colts?

Is Bowles on his way out? The talk amongst fans has been if Todd Bowles could get fired after the year. After this beatdown, Steve Politi says it’s beginning to seem more likely.

What’s Bowles think about it? Bowles was asked about his job security — rather the lack thereof.

Lifeless performance. Todd Bowles wasn’t happy after the game. He let all know by talking a lot about butts.

Big Mo not happy. Muhammad Wilkerson put a few nameless teammates on blast after the game, saying not everybody is trying their hardest. He also cursed.

Fitzpatrick doesn’t care about the future. No, really. He doesn’t. He wants to play. But he’s no longer playing. So that doesn’t make him happy.

Everybody fails. The Jets stunk. Their report card reflects that. There are a lot of Fs here, but also a few non-failing grades.

Blame game. Here’s who you should blame the Jets loss on. No, not just Todd Bowles.
